About

Sunfloweranne is a Mom and Pop business which  Rebecca and Fred Keefer run from their home in North Zulch, Texas.  Rebecca “Sunfloweranne” Keefer has been painting since 1985.  She began painting in an effort to retain her sanity after her husband, Fred,  moved the family to the town of North Zulch, Texas which is about two miles north of  Zulch, should you not know where North Zulch is located. The only person that she knew in this tiny town was her mother-in-law, who encouraged Rebecca to take a class in something,  anything.  Rebecca took a few painting classes, practiced, observed and experimented with techniques until she developed her own distinctive style of decorative art.  She is considered by her many fans to be an accomplished decorative artist.

Rebecca began painting on bottles to be used as dish washing liquid dispensers circa 2007.  For the first few years she painted on used wine  and liquor bottles provided by relatives, friends and  acquaintances.  The sale of these hand painted bottles was accomplished exclusively at craft shows, farmers’ markets and similar venues.  The bottles have become so popular that Rebecca can not depend on the supply of used bottles to be sufficient. She now orders quantities of bottles from packaging suppliers.

Fred visited with a soap maker who was demonstrating the cold process method at a frontier day presentation in Crockett, Texas circa 2005.  Upon his return home Fred researched soap making on the internet and through books concerning the subject.  Fred decided that he would like to try making soap, got lucky, and made a few batches before he made his first botch.  For the next several years Fred developed his skills and recipes making a little soap from time to time for family and friends.

Upon his second retirement in late December 2009, Rebecca and Fred decided to get serious about his soap making and the marketing of Rebecca’s art and Fred’s soap. That is when the craft show circuit really began for them.   Often Rebecca and Fred would pack up her bottles, and other hand painted decorative art, along with Fred’s hand made natural soap, drive up to one-hundred miles, set up an outdoor booth, work the show in whatever Texas weather God provided, pack their merchandise and drive home all in one day. They kept reassuring each other that they were having fun and making a little money along the way.  For a while they were working two or three shows every week along with producing products to sell.  Exhaustion encouraged the entry into the wholesale market and this web site coming into being during the summer of 2010.

Welcome. Come in and visit a spell. It is our desire and goal to provide you with products which are as good as any, better than some.
